Library
The library is specialized and closed. The library’s book collection includes over 14,000 library items.
The library is rich in rarities, special editions, professional literature, capital encyclopedia and lexicon editions, newspapers and magazines, and thematic newspaper content.
The Archives library fund is replenished by purchases, exchanges with other institutions and gifts.
No book is published before it has been inventoried, cataloged and classified. Old and rare books are excluded from lending outside the Archives; unique specimens; reference literature (dictionaries, encyclopedias, lexicons, handbooks, atlases…) and all periodicals
Exceptionally, materials exempt from borrowing can be taken out of the library for photocopying, microfilming or scanning and returned on the same day. Material that can be processed on the available equipment of the Archive is not allowed to be taken out. Processing services are charged according to the valid price list of the Archives
The Library has the right to take a deposit from users who do not have a permanent residence in HNK/Ž or are not in a permanent relationship when borrowing books outside the Library, which is returned when the user returns the book. For books published before 1945, this deposit must be taken. In case of possible damage or loss of the book, the Library has the right to keep the deposited amount in the name of compensation for the damage. The loan period for all books is one month.
If the user does not return the book within the stipulated period, the Library has the right to charge a fee equal to the value of the borrowed book.
A user who exceeds the loan period has no right to further borrowing until he returns the book for which the loan period has expired, or pays a fee for the same.
Users are obliged to return books on time and in the same condition in which they were borrowed. For damaged books, the Library will charge the user the costs of reparation (restoration) of the book. In case of severe damage, the user is obliged to pay the full value of the damaged copy.
In case of loss of the book, the user is obliged to get a book equal to the lost one. If the book cannot be obtained, and it is the only copy of the Library, the user should compensate the loss with a copy of the same book within one month from the day on which he was obliged to return it.
In 2015, the archive received as a gift the private library of the deceased academician linguist prof. Ph.D. Asima Peca.
The library is open to users every working day during the working hours of the Archive for a continuous duration of at least three hours a day.
